One of my favorite memories of Larry was witnessing the loving care he gave to Elsie shortly before her death. She had prepped me to be her caregiver because she didn't want Larry to have to do it, but in the end it was his care she sought. He educated himself well and gave her care with thoughtfulness and compassion. I am forever grateful.
Rick has described Larry's personality well. He had a sense of humor for sure. He was also a diligent planner of activities. He planned our Las Vegas trip to where we managed to see Vegas and the Grand Canyon in 2 1/2 days. He also had great fun describing the sweat pouring off the helicopter attendant trying to stuff mine and Elsie's Landreth behinds into the helicopter seat for the flight down to the canyon floor. And retelling of how my legs had given out from all our Vegas walking until I heard about the karaoke going on outside the place where we were eating. He likened it to a miracle.
We shared an interest in genealogy giving tips back and forth. I would seek his advise on financial matters and valued his opinion. He definitely had a fine ear for music. He wa very intelligent.
He was a good father, promoting Brenda and Clay in their activities, sports and music. Brenda on the organ and Clay with his drums. He ensured they both got good educations and I am sure was proud of their career successes.
While I am sorry to have lost Elsie, I am grateful He and Sandra found each other and were so happy together. When Larry was setting up his retirement he said he was going to build his house in Missouri, then sit out on the front porch in his rocking chair with a shotgun looking mean at whoever came up. He obviously mellowed and I have never seen him smile as much in pictures as he did after joining with Sandra.
He will be missed.

To me Uncle Larry was a character. He was quiet , patient but always had a Zinger at the ready if he felt you needed put in your place. One Memory always sticks with me > Larry Rabbit hunting : Here is how it goes. Dad ( Jim Klanke) and Larry had spent years together hunting so Larry was quite good at it. ( Way better than us boys knew) So Clay and I and some other cousins and dad and Larry are all hunting. Larry was directing us to go this way or that way. Us boys would be way up in front of Larry and Dad we would jump the rabbits up and we would kill a few but when ther right in front of you and go sideways, odds are not on your side. Near the end of the hunt we realized we had been had. Us Boys were the dogs ! Those rabbits always make a wide circle and go back where they were by which time Larry following way back would shoot them and continually make fun of our SUB PAR SHOOTING! Thats just how Larry was very patient and smart. Always ready to teach us a lesson especially at our expense just for sone humor. He will be sorely missed.

I was saddened to learn of Larry's passing. Many years ago he was nice to me when he was probably wondering if he should be. I extend my sympathy to his friends and family and it is my hope that the warm memories of a life well lived will lessen your sorrow during this difficult time.
